Never Hide From Your Customers

By Marte Cliff Years ago I attended a Realtors convention where one of the booth themes was Dont be a Secret Agent. The whole idea was that when youre in sales youd better let everyone in your sphere of influence (and beyond) know, or theyll use someone else and youll have hurt feelings and an empty bank account. Lately Ive been thinking about how that applies to each and every business in the universe. And the fact that theres more to it than that. People may know about you, even want to do business with you, but if they cant find you easily, theyll go elsewhere. You have to make yourself Easy to Get. Just the other day I needed to find an acquaintance that has a small side business. I knew the name of the business, but it wasnt listed in the phone book. I knew her first name no help there. Finally her last name popped into my head and then I only had to remember her husbands name to find them in the phone book. I persisted because I knew she was the only person nearby who could provide what I wanted. But if there had been someone else in the Yellow Pages You get the idea. So what can you do? First of all, if you have a local service business, hand out your cards all the time. Never assume that since you gave them out once, people still have them. They probably dont. Or if they do have one, they wont remember where they put it when they need you. Give your cards to friends and ask them to pass them along. Give them to every new person you meet. Post them on the bulletin board along with the others at the local caf. If you leave a great tip after dinner, leave your card with it. When you pay a bill with a local merchant, include your card. When you do a mailing to prospective customers, include your card. They might not keep the whole letter, but the business card might go into their card file. At the same time, make darn sure that letter has all your contact information on every page. That includes your phone, fax, e-mail, and mailing address. If you use your cell phone often, include that too. The same goes for e-mail. Never assume that everyone wants to communicate electronically. Add a signature to all of your email that shows what you do, along with your phone numbers and your postal mailing address, as well as your return email address. Then there are print ads. Every once in a while I see a newspaper ad that was a complete waste of money. The ad might have gotten my attention, but they forgot the address of the business and/or the contact information. In short, make it easy for anyone to find you no matter which method they prefer. Never hide from people who want to give you money. Letting La Twit Loose

By Mark Woeppel Never, ever, ever turn a young twit loose in a kitchen who claims she knows how to make a cheesecake, especially never when company is expected, particularly if that company is a VIP-such as the boss who is responsible for the roof over your head. La Twit convinced me that she had made perfect cheesecakes in Home Economics class and at Suzy Q’s sleepover parties. So I capitulated to her sales pitch, a stream of positive statements not counting thoughts separated by ah, um, the “like” word, and her megawatt smile. In a word, I was bedazzled. First she went shopping, not for cheesecake ingredients, but for the perfect apron that would protect her eclectic fashion statement while simultaneously adding pizzazz to the layered look. The chosen apron was a flirtatious accessory, almost as saucy as the stereotypical French maid’s long-handled feather duster. La Twit donned the apron over an artistically-and expensively-torn tie dyed T-shirt that fluttered above her pierced navel. Riding on her hips was an extra layer of epidermis known as jeans. When it came to her attire, La Twit’s apron garnish proved she had the capacity to plan ahead-that is if her plan was to become La Twit de la soir. Compared to her exotic costume, the ingredients for the cheesecake were mundane. Graham crackers, sugar, butter, eggs, cream, cottage cheese, flour, lemon, walnuts. La Twit followed the recipe, precisely. Well, she cheated a little. For example, she melted more butter than the recipe called for but she grated half as much lemon rind as listed and went nuts chopping extra walnuts. These were not serious infractions and so could not be responsible for the disaster that emerged from the oven-a semi-firm pudding. Did La Twit panic? Ask me if I did. “You told me you knew how to make cheesecake!” She smiled. La Twit had the audacity to flash that megawatt smile. “Lawdy, Miz Scarlet, ahs don’t knows nuthin’ bout makin’ cheesecake!” Before I could react, she winked and reached into the cupboard. She placed eight stemmed desert dishes on the counter. She sliced through the would-be cheesecake into the graham cracker crust and ladled each would-be wedge into a dessert dish where the crust broke apart and the cheesecakey pudding found its own level. She grabbed a can of chocolate syrup and drizzled it over the you-know-what. Then she reached into the refrigerator for a can of real whipped cream, squirted it generously over the chocolate rivulets, and topped it all off with enough chopped walnuts to choke a horse. Everyone loved the dessert. Everyone wanted to know what it was. I looked across the table to the would-be pastry cook, demure and gorgeous in a silky turtleneck and long skirt, eager to hear how she would answer. “Prissy’s Pudding,” my eldest niece responded smoothly, every pore a-sizzle with sweet sophistication. But I knew that after a good night’s sleep, La Twit would re-emerge in the morning. Mark Woeppel has been writing and eating desserts longer than most. In his day, he often dated Scarlet O’Cheesecake, who was a bit of a dish herself. Now she beguiles with her tales, both bland (well, not really) and spicy (verily). More of her stories and of course, delicious cheesecake can be found at: http://www.cheesecakestogo.biz Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mark_Woeppel http://EzineArticles.com/?Letting-La-Twit-Loose&id=373220 online loan companies payday lender apply for a personal loan online wachovia unsecured loans

Free Treo Ringtones

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva]Thomas Morva The Treo 600 is regarded as a smart phone that has a combination of a color Palm OS PDA and also a regular sized mobile phone. Due to these integrated features, it becomes possible for the user to dial directly from the exhaustive contacts list, take pictures and even send emails. It also has to its credit a five-way navigation button and a favorites screen allowing quick access to the phone functions. This is a multi-tasking device and has a great storage capacity and also features a speakerphone. The users of Treo are more likely to download or use polyphonic ringtones than monophonic ones. With the Treo, its very easy to download a free MP3 player and lots of tunes from several portals directly. The Treo 600 uses MIDI files for ringtones. To use any particular tune as a ringtone, you must add it into the phones ringtone database. Normally, there are no “freeware” MP3 ringtone managers available for Treo, but several free options can be used by a savvy user. MIDI is the format of the musical ring tones for many smart phones including the Treo 650. You can also pick a few of your favorite TV theme songs or classic rock tunes and download them for free and use them as ringtones. You can also assign custom rings to your frequent callers so that you know who is calling even before you check the number. You can also download you favorite tunes from various Web sites and store them on your computer. Later, the Treo, once connected to your PC will do the rest. Another interesting option to make your own Treo ringtones is using ringtone management software. The more popular ones include Callfilter, LightWav, mp3Ringer, mRing, Ringo PRO, and CallShield. Using such software, you can create any kind of a Treo ringtone you wish. Being a multitasking handset, the possibilities with a Treo are far greater than with a regular phone. So just check out whats the latest trend and let your Treo make the difference. Worldwide Grand Bible Exposition!

By Mon Ano Salvation comes from God, whom the Bible calls as the Living God and Savior. God is employing a human being in order for His will to be fulfilled … and that is the salvation of man. Our Lord Jesus Christ will bring two kinds of salvation, through the Bible. At the time He assumed human form, He saved Israel from its sinfulness. That is written in Matthew 1:21, which says- “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” However, when He comes again, for the second time, He will bring salvation to the faithful. And, the Bible is teaching us how we can become one among those people that our Lord Jesus Christ will save come judgment day. The first verse that we have to pay attention to is Ephesians 3:6, which says- “That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the Gospel.” St. Paul, the Apostle, said, “The Gentiles should be fellow heirs.” But before we continue analyzing this verse, let us find out from the Bible: who are called “Gentiles” and why are they also called “heirs?” In Ephesians 2:11-12, this is what is written– “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.” In those lines, St. Paul reminds the Christians in Ephesus of their former conditions. According to the Bible, during those times, “they were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel.” Therefore, Biblically speaking, the Gentiles are those who were apart from Christ. They were “strangers from the covenants of promise,” … they were the hopeless, and they were without a God in the world because they were not part of Israel. And we, who live at the present time, may also be called Gentiles if we will use the Bible as our basis. According to St. Paul, for the Gentiles to be a part of the salvation that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ, they have to be made parts first of the body; and only after that will they become partakers of a promise in Christ by the Gospel. You will notice that St. Paul made reference to a “body” … a body into which the Gentiles must integrate themselves so that they also become heirs. The explanation to that may be read in Colossians 1:18- “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Therefore, the body whose head is Christ is the CHURCH. At this point, we must understand that the Gentiles, like us, must join the body, or the Church. And when we say that we must join the Church, it means that we no longer have to build any. We no longer have to establish our own church just for us to become partakers of a promise in Christ. And whenever we say “join,” or be a part of the body, of the Church, it denotes that, there is already an existing Church. In fact, this Church already exists even before the promise of salvation was given to the Gentiles. There is an existing Church even before Paul was made apostle. And this was the same Church that our Lord Jesus Christ taught, when he assumed human form. … And there can never be another church. Today, there are preachers who claim that another church had appeared in the Philippines. And according to them, this church was different from the one in Israel. If this is the case, it would appear that, despite the fact that there was already a church in Israel, another church appeared in the Philippines. As far as the Bible is concerned, such a belief is wrong because, according to St. Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians, in 4:4- “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.” There is just one body … there is no other body. And the proof that there is only one body can be read in Colossians 3:15- “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which ye are called in one body; and ye be thankful.” Here, St. Paul is addressing the brethren who, in the beginning were Gentiles, but were eventually called to one body. In other words, the body that the early Christians (the Israelites) made themselves a part of, is also the same body, or church, into which the Gentiles were being called upon to join. Now, if the Gentiles will just integrate themselves to the body, then, the Church will remain ONE. It is against the teachings of God, and of the Holy Scripture, that other churches is built in other places, let’s say in the US, or in England, or in Germany, or in Rome. They also claim that another church had also been founded in the Philippines. The truth is, God did not give any right to anybody to build his own church. It is indeed disgusting that today, a lot of ministers build churches of their own. They deliberately oppose and defy what the Bible said – that, the Gentiles, like us, must join or make ourselves a part of the body, or the Church, for us to be saved. And what is the reason why we must abide by it? It is because, as far as God is concerned, He did not give anybody His consent to build a church right now in our time. This is what Psalms 127:1 says- “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that built it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” The verse mentioned of a “house,” which becomes useless if it is not built by the Lord. Let us now ask the Bible. What is being referred to as the “house,” which only God has the right to build? In I Timothy 3:15, it says- “But if I tarry long , that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” If you have noticed, in the New Testament, the word house refers to the Church of God. This is, truly, the house of God because it was built by God, Himself. That is why, if, in our time, you come across churches, whose founders are also their ministers, you can be sure that they are NOT REAL! Multipurpose Loan with Competitive Rates – Secured Personal Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor Secured personal loan is the most common and popular loan in the financial market which provides financial assistance in fulfilling our personal desires. In other words, secured personal loan gives financial support to those who are willing to place collateral against the loan amount. Secured personal loan can be used for any of the purposes: Buying a car Purchasing a house Holiday Debt consolidation Home improvements Wedding etc Secured personal loan carries low rate of interest and flexible repayment period. The reason as to why the lender offer such low interest is that, collateral placed as security makes him secure in regard to any non repayment of the monthly installment. And, if in case we miss any monthly installment the lender has the legal right to seize the asset in order to realize his due payment. In secured personal loan we can borrow an amount in respect to the equity present in the placed collateral. Equity can be defined as the value obtained by subtracting any previously debt taken against the asset from the market value of the asset. More the equity in the collateral will enable to borrow larger amount and too with competitive rate. There is always a need to put an eye on the terms and conditions of the secured personal loan deal as a single unfavorable term can emerge as hurdle in making repayments. It is advisable that we should not accept any offer without comparing it with other offers being made. And, comparison must be made on the basis of annual percentage rate. Here, annual percentage rate can be defined as the sum of rate of interest and cost of the loan. This annual percentage rate of loan is briefly explained in the loan quote which is provided by the lender at free of cost. Finally, that offer must be accepted which has minimum annual percentage rate. It is true that bad credit scorer can avail secured personal loan but they will be required to pay high rate of interest as compared to good credit scorer but, now bad credit scorer can also avail loan on competitive rates through co-signer. Using co-signer for availing secured personal loan implies taking advantage of good credit score of another person. In such loan deal co-signer becomes the guarantee, that, in case when the borrower is not able to meet repayments. In such case, co-signer will be held responsible for meeting all the repayments. If He Insists That You Work…

By Sarah Tanner Once, when asked about her life, former First Lady Barbara Bush said, “I married well.” Is it wrong to want to marry well? Ladies, it’s all about survival – and it’s all about what you will be able to do for your children. Marry well, and you will never have to fear the basic survival issues, such as illness and unemployment – threats that single women (especially single mothers) have to face every day. Mother always said, “You can just as easily love a rich man as a poor man.” Mother was right. But what makes a man rich? Richness comes in many forms. Another word for riches is “abundance.” Life can be abundant in many ways. A relationship can be abundant in love, in trust, in affection, in fun, and in respect. Marrying your best friend is a sure way to an abundant emotional life. What is it about wealth and abundance that make these things so appealing to so many of us? Take the time to think about this before you proceed on your journey to find a wealthy mate. Abundance means security. We have security when we no longer have to worry how we will get the money for our basic needs and wants. We have security when our life is not dependent upon having and keeping a job – especially not a job we dread going to every day. We have security when there is more than enough money to take care of us, now and in the future. We have security when we know that our children will not have to live in impoverished neighborhoods and be exposed to bad influences. It is not wrong to want to have money. It is not wrong to want to marry someone who handles his or her money prudently. Nor is it unusual, whether you are rich or not, to want to marry someone who is financially secure. No one wants to get romantically involved with someone with chronic problems with money – gambling, debt, overspending, risktaking. These things can ruin a marriage or relationship faster than anything. However, there are hidden riches in marrying many men whom you might otherwise overlook. If you marry a man who gives you the freedom of choice as to whether you work or not, you have in essence just become a millionaire, even if your husband earns $30,000 per year! “Do the math”: if you marry at age 30, you may be married for 40 or more years. 40 years x $30,000 per year = $1,200,000 – money that is being earned for you while you are busy raising a family and nurturing your life together. A husband who doesn’t insist that you work automatically makes you a millionaire!! You don’t have to be “rich” – to be rich!! But what is happening today? Young women report all the time that guys are bringing this subject up on the first date! Before the cappuccino is cold, these men are telling women that any wife of theirs should expect to help bring home the bacon, even after they have children! What is a guy like this really telling you? He is saying loud and clear that to him, marriage is like a business. If he takes on a partner, he expects to earn twice as much. He is saying that the quality of life for his children is secondary to making sure there is extra money in his bank account. He is saying that he wants to keep buying his “toys” more than he wants a wonderful, cozy life with his beloved wife and children! Run, do not walk! You are far better off remaining single than marrying a man who views marriage and family in this light. Keep searching until you find the man who truly understands the meaning of marriage and family. These men are out there!! Where can you find a man who wants a traditional family life, with whom you can raise beautiful children who have the best of both parents while growing up (instead of spending most of their time in school and daycare with thrown-together frozen meals and an exhausted mom and dad)? The best place to find a man like this is in a church or synagogue. And the best place to find churches with the most eligible men is in a larger city. However, you don’t have to move. You can meet men in reputable Christian or Jewish online dating services. Have you seen the women who work full-time at demanding jobs while at the same time raising babies, toddlers, or school-aged children? These women are stretched to the max. They spend from morning till night working both at their jobs and then at home taking care of their families. If you should be so blessed as to find or to already have a man in your life who genuinely wants you to have the freedom of choice to stay home and take care of your family, you must never take him for granted. If you are fortunate enough to marry a man who encourages you to stay home after your children are born, you must do your part to make it worthwhile for him! How can you do that? There are four important ways: No yelling – no nagging – ever. On the contrary – build up your husband in every way you can. Stay attractive and stay in shape. The best way to do that is to keep exercising. Keep your home neat, uncluttered, and beautiful. It doesn’t have to be fancy to be beautiful. Less is more. Never, and I mean never, get over your head in debt. If you need extra cash, find ways to make money. The old saying is true: where there is a will, there is a way! A woman can make her own fortune with or without a man in her life. Women are doing it every day. You don’t need a man, rich or not, to complete your life. But if you decide it’s time to fall in love, be sure to make a wise decision in the area of money, and marry someone who is responsible with his earnings, and who is generous. (The most unsexy man in the world is the cheapskate.) You don’t need to deal with someone else’s debt collectors calling your home and a ruined credit report as a result of your wedding vows. You don’t need to be the only one who pays the bills while your man plays computer games, entertains buddies, and drinks beer all day. Smart, responsible attitudes about money will result in long-term wealth and security at any income level. Marriage can be difficult under even the best of circumstances. Marry a man who adds to your life, rather than takes away from it, and then make him glad he married you. Then you have indeed married rich! Sarah Tanner is a writer about relationships and charm. Weight Loss : 7 keys to Success

By Janice Elizabeth Small Successful weight loss is about much more than buying the latest diet and exercise program. You have to have the right mindset to make any weight loss program work. Without the right attitude you will have an uphill battle to succeed – but if you get your head together before you begin, and keep yourself in the right frame of mind throughout your program, you multiply your chances of losing weight successfully. So what is the right attitude to ensure you succeed? Ideally you need all of the following:- 1. Absolute desire You have to want a new slim figure and better health more than that piece of chocolate cake. Work out why you want to lose weight and remind yourself every day (every meal time if necessary) why you are doing this. 2. Willingness to change You have to want to lose weight so much you’re prepared to change your attitudes and your lifestyle little by little until you’re living the life that keeps you slim and healthy forever. 3. Commitment to do this for once and for all Make a firm decision to achieve your target, put it in writing and re-read it every day. Constantly renew your commitment to yourself. 4. Knowledge of yourself No matter what your circumstances, you need to accept that you are responsible for your current weight. Only you can say what passes your lips and what doesn’t. Only you decide how much or how little you move every day. You need to understand the reasons why you put on weight in the first place so that you can undo those habits. You need to know your weak spots and look for the best ways to work around them, knowing what you know about you and your lifestyle. 5. Self-belief You must know in your heart of hearts that you can do this, that you can rely on yourself to follow through your commitment and not let yourself down. Everyone can lose weight, but you must believe it too. 6. Self confidence You need self-confidence to keep your commitments in the face of pressure from others, self-confidence to do new things, to try new forms of exercise, to join a gym or a new class. Surprisingly you also need to have self-confidence to face the world as a slimmer person because you will attract attention and admiring glances that you’re not used to. 7. Determination and perseverance When the going gets difficult the successful just keep going. If you choose the right weight loss program, one that is balanced, and fits your life your level of fitness and circumstances and just keep going with it, you’ll succeed. So don’t give up. The great thing is that you can choose to have these personal qualities and attitudes today, simply by changing the way you speak to yourself, being more positive and acting as if you have these characteristics already. You can choose to change your attitude for weight loss success or you can choose to carry on as you are. It really is up to you (and your mind) to make your weight loss program a success! Easter – Its Origins and Relationship to Pagans and Passover

By Arthur Levine Im confused about Easter, how about you? There seems to be much scholarly discourse that links the Christian tradition of Easter to the Jewish tradition of Passover and to certain Pagan rituals and beliefs that came before them. There is even some dispute over the actual date of Christs death and resurrection, but the faith that each of us hold in our hearts cannot be in dispute. This I believe. The name Easter may have first been associated with an ancient Goddess, The Venerable Bede, (672-735). She was the mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe who was known as Eastra. Many Pagan religions in the Mediterranean area had a major seasonal day of religious celebration following the Spring Equinox. Cybele, the Phrygian fertility goddess had a fictional consort named Attis who was believed to have been born in a virgin birth and to have died and been resurrected each year during the March 22 to March 25th period around 200 B.C. Wherever Christian worship of Jesus and Pagan worship of Attis were active in the same area at around the same time, Christians and Pagans used to quarrel about which of their gods was the true one. Some religious historians believe that the death and resurrection legends were first associated with Attis many centuries before the birth of Christ. One theory is that they were simply grafted onto stories of Jesus in order to make Christian theology more acceptable to Pagans. My own opinion is that we shouldnt worry too much about what the experts say. I think its what you feel in your heart and soul that counts at this holy time of year. I think its your family traditions, your personal beliefs, and the religious rituals you have grown up with that really matter. Easter has Judeo-Christian origins. The life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the gospels includes the Christian version of this theme. Good Friday is observed in remembrance of Jesus execution by an occupying Roman army, and his burial in a cave. Easter Sunday is the date when a group of his female followers first noticed that the tomb was empty, and concluded that he had been resurrected. The timing of the Christian celebration of Easter is linked to the Jewish celebration of Passover. The name Passover was derived from the angel of death passing over homes of Jews, which were marked, with the blood of a lamb thus sparing the first born of such homes. Liberal Theologians link Passover to ancient pre-Israelite Pagan rituals practiced by wandering Semitic shepherds in celebration of an agricultural harvest using unleavened bread. Passover was the most important feast of the Jewish calendar, celebrated around the 22nd of March. The Synoptic gospels of Mark, Mathew, and Luke stated that Jesus last supper was a Seder or Passover celebration. Most Christians believe that Jesus Christ was executed and buried just before the beginning of Passover on Friday evening. A minority believes that the execution occurred on a Wednesday or Thursday. Some liberal Christians have suggested that the early Christian Church arbitrarily selected Passover as the time thus allowing them to link the most important religious days in Judaism and Christianity. Whatever your personal beliefs are, whatever the actual dates are, dont let the skeptics amongst us deter you from celebrating your religious beliefs and traditions. Dont let those of little faith keep you from believing. Easter is a Christian Festival, which celebrates Christs Resurrection. Today eggs are decorated and exchanged with friends and family to commemorate the unification of all Gods children. In ancient times eggs were exchanged to symbolize the continuance of life after death. Early Christianity is thought to have adopted the idea and incorporated it into their Easter celebration. Let the celebration continue. Please feel free to use this article as long as credit is given to the resource box. Bridal Shower Entertainment

By Trish Burrell Have you given a thought to bridal shower entertainment? Just as bridal showers have changed through the years, so have the activities. Bridal shower games are still very popular, but there’s so much more available. Let’s take a look at how this aspect of your plans can add to your guests enjoyment. Many parties now have a specific theme. Look for bridal shower entertainment that’s related to your theme. If you brainstorm, you’ll usually come up with several ideas. So, let your imagination go! What is Neurotransmitter Deficiency Disorder and How Can It Cause Depression, Anxiety, and…

By William Nelson Neurotransmitters (NTs) are essential chemical messengers that regulate brain, muscle, nerve and organ function. The most common NTs are serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Low levels of these important chemicals is extremely common in the general public and is due to innumerable lifestyle, environmental, and dietary factors. This article is intended to help the reader determine whether they may be deficient in NTs and how evaluation and treatment of this disorder can help. People with neurotransmitter deficiency disorder can suffer from one or more of the following conditions: obesity, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, insomnia, attention deficit, learning disorders, panic attacks, migraines, pms, menopausal symptoms, digestive complaints and many more. Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and other drugs working on the neurotransmitter biochemistry such as Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, Celexa, Wellbutrin, etc. are currently some of the most commonly prescribed drugs. They work by artificially increasing the amount of serotonin in the synapse of the nerve which allows a temporary improvement in the chemical messaging system. The problem with this approach is that these drugs DO NOT increase serotonin levels and in fact deplete reserves of the NT. This occurs because the SSRI class drugs cause an increase in an enzyme called MAO. It is common for people to experience only temporary improvement due to this effect. The most effective way to correct a neurotransmitter deficiency is to perform a simple urine test to measure the NT levels. The treatment for optimizing the neurotransmitter levels is to provide the basic amino acid precursors or building blocks so the body can replenish the inadequate levels. The true value of any treatment is the results it produces. Using this approach over the last year, I have helped coach many patients to a higher level of wellness. Patients with chronic depression, anxiety, and or insomnia have experienced a new sense of wellbeing while continuing their prescription, others have successfully weaned themselves off their prescription SSRI drugs after their symptoms have improved. Weight loss patients using slightly higher amino acid dosing consistently lose 1.5-2.5 lbs. per week without hunger while improving their lean muscle/body fat ratios. FAQs regarding Dr. Nelsons NT program for anxiety and depression Q. If I am already taking SSRI drugs, can I safely use this amino acid approach? A. In my clinical experience I have seen great results with patients who have been on SSRI drugs for many many years. First, we get the person feeling better, then if the patient chooses, we slowly wean them off their prescription drugs. Q. How does amino acid therapy increase NT levels? A. 5HTP is converted into serotonin and then melatonin. Phenylalanine is converted into tyrosine, then dopamine, L-Dopa, norepinephrine, and lastly epinephrine. Q. How do you measure for the neurotransmitter levels in order to determine appropriate treatment? A. The levels for epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, GABA, PEA, histamine, and many others can be measured with a simple urine test. An initial urine test can be given and then repeated after 6 to 12 weeks of therapy to determine optimal neurotransmitter levels have been obtained. Q. Are there any side effects associated with the amino acid neurotransmitter therapy? A. Not only are there no side effects, but there are numerous side benefits. People with depression often find relief not only from depression but also insomnia, fatigue, GI symptoms, chronic pain, pms, menopausal symptoms, obesity, food cravings, etc. In a small amount of people (less than 5%) people could have gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea, cramping, diarrhea, etc. This occurs in people with severe neurotransmitter deficiency. This usually occurs within the first three days and is solved by stopping all amino acids. Therapy is continued at very low dosing after symptoms abate and then slowly increased to therapeutic levels over three to six weeks. Q. How long will it take until my symptoms of depression/anxiety improve? A. Each individual responds differently to treatment. Some patients have noticed incredible improvements in moods in a few days, others dont notice any improvements for a period of time (sometimes 3-4 months) and then notice gradual improvements over the following 3 to 6 months, most patients notice gradual improvements beginning after 1 month of treatment and then continue to improve. Q. What should I expect during a normal course of evaluation and treatment? A. Evaluation involves an initial office visit to determine overall health history, prescription drug levels, severity of symptoms, and any related health concerns. There is an optional urine test for neurotransmitter levels. Treatment consists of the following: 1. Conditioning Phase a one to two week period to prepare the patient for higher levels of therapeutic amino acid dosing. 2. Therapeutic Phase a period lasting anywhere from two months to 1 year+ where high levels of amino acids are given to restore the neurotransmitter levels. 3. Maintenance Phase ongoing treatment with a small amount of amino acids to maintain the levels of neurotransmitters. This provides enough amino acids to replace the neurotransmitters excreted throughout the day. Q. Will I need to stay on amino acid therapy indefinitely? A. Most people need to stay on a low level maintenance dose in order to continue to feel well after their 2 month to 1 year plus treatment phase. If people stop taking the amino acids, their neurotransmitter levels will slowly decrease over time. Q. What amino acids are used in this therapy? A. The amino acids used depend on the unique situation. The therapy will include any number of the following: 5HTP, tyrosine, phenylalanine, cysteine, mucuna (herbal L-Dopa), theanine, glutamine, taurine, methionine, GABA, phosphorylated b vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants. Q. What is the approximate cost of the therapy? A. The cost of the neurotransmitter replacement therapy can range from $80 to $120+ during the therapeutic phase. After the patients symptoms have improved and the urine tests show optimal levels, the cost for the maintenance therapy is significantly less. Q. Whats the success rate for anxiety and depression using this approach? A. Anxiety and Depression are conditions that are multi-factorial. Patients that follow the dietary recommendations, take the supplements and dont give up before the neurotransmitters levels have been restored have a very high success rate. This natural therapy corrects the biochemical imbalance associated with these conditions. Patients working with a qualified counselor or therapist to address the mental and emotional aspects of these conditions have an even higher success rate.
